MANILA, Philippines — Aduke Ogunsanya will miss the remainder of Choco Mucho’s 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season after suffering a torn ACL on her right knee.

The Flying Titans bared the diagnosis on their middle blocker’s injury from last Tuesday’s four-set loss to Army Black Mamba at San Juan Arena.

“The Choco Mucho Flying Titans Management informs our fans that Aduke Ogunsanya suffered a torn ACL on her right knee last July 19 during their match against Black Mamba Army,” read the team’s statement on Thursday evening.

“Management will ensure duke gets the best possible medical care for her to come back stronger in due time. Let’s keep Duke in our prayers and send her our love and well wishes.”

Ogunsanya suffered the injury during the third set against Army after landing on her teammate Caitlyn Viray’s left foot from a block attempt with the game tied at 22. The former La Salle star was carried off the court and was not able to come back.

It will take eight months up to one year to recover from the said knee injury.

Ogunsanya was signed by Choco Mucho from F2 Logistics last January. Two Flying Titans are already recovering from an ACL injury including Maddie Madayag, who is still in progress with her comeback after sustaining a knee injury in the PVL bubble in Ilocos Norte last year.

Choco Mucho played with a depleted roster last Tuesday, missing Kat Tolentino, Des Cheng, Cherry Nunag, and Thang Ponce, who were reportedly “under the weather.”

Their availability is still uncertain when the Flying Titans, who are currently 1-2, try to end a two-game skid against their sister team, Creamline Cool Smashers (2-1) on Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.
