MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines continued to stamp its class on the final day of action in the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan Friday night.
Vanessa Sarno showed why she’s being tipped as heir apparent to Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz by winning three gold medals in the women’s junior -71kg category.
The 18-year-old Sarno lifted a total of 230kg to dominate the field.
She tallied 100kg in the snatch and 130kg in the clean and jerk to sweep all the golds in her class.
Sarno’s golden performance kept the Philippines’ winning trend in the competition.
Angeline Colonia got things going with a record breaking feat on Sunday where she ended up with two golds and a silver.
Ramos sisters Rose Jean and Rosegie combined for a total of seven golds while Rosalinda Faustino also won three golds.
The Philippines wrapped its scintillating campaign with 15 gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
