ANTIPOLO — Wanting to try something new, Tots Carlos debuted her newly dyed bright pink hair in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference semifinal round.
The Open Conference MVP unleashed 24 points in Creamline’s 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17 victory over Army Black Mamba on Thursday at Ynares Center Antipolo.
When asked about her new hairdo colored like her team’s jersey, Carlos said she just wanted to try a new hairstyle.
“Maiba naman. Wala. Trip ko lang (I just wanted something different…I just felt like it),” said Carlos, who drilled 21 kills of her 46 attempts and had 19 digs.
The University of the Philippines standout lauded her teammates after they recovered from a second set defeat and displayed great teamwork in the last two sets to earn their first win in the semis round.
“Just like what coach said, we trained for this kind of situation. We train to recover mentally when we lose a set or points. We just have to focus on what’s next,“ she said in Filipino.
Only the top two teams will reach the winner-take-all Final on August 14 at Mall of Asia Arena.
Creamline will have a challenging stretch facing the 2-0 PLDT on Saturday before taking on the foreign teams Kobe Shinwa University of Japan on Monday and KingWhale Taipei on Wednesday next week.
Carlos said they need to keep the same mindset and stick to coach Sherwin Meneses’ system.
“As coach said, we always have to adjust to the situation. We can’t think of all that games in one day. We have to take it one game at a time,” she said.
