MANILA, Philippines—PLDT fended off Akari, 25-14, 21-25, 25-12, 25-15, for its fourth consecutive win in the PVL All-Filipino Conference at Philsports Arena on Tuesday.

After a resounding opening set, the High Speed Hitters needed to regroup after allowing the Chargers to get back into the game.

“In that second set, maybe we relaxed a little bit. We were too happy after the first set that we forgot to focus a little bit on the game,” said PLDT setter Rhea Dimaculangan, who finished with 22 excellent sets and three points.

PLDT regained control after a subpar second set with Mika Reyes giving the High Speed Hitters a 19-12 cushion in the fourth set.

Mich Morente put PLDT on the hill with a kill before an Akari net violation ended the match. Morente led with 14 points.

Dell Palomata added 13 points while Mika Reyes chipped in 10 points for the High Speed Hitters, who improved to 4-1.

Dindin Santiago-Manabat paced Akari (1-4) with 10 points.
