MANILA, Philippines — Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses believes Bernadeth Pons has more to offer for the Cool Smashers after a breakthrough year in 2024.
From being a bench player in her return to indoor action off a colorful national beach volleyball team career, Pons stepped up big time in the absence of Creamline stars Jema Galanza, Alyssa Valdez, and Tots Carlos to become the Reinforced Conference MVP, leading her team to the top of the import-laden tournament and Invitationals for a historic grand slam.
Pons picked up from where she left off, keeping Creamline unbeaten in seven games in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference and extending their winning streak to 17 games dating back to last year.

With Pons’ consistent stellar performance, Meneses knows that the best is yet to come.
“Mas marami pang ipapakita si Pons sa mga next games. Happy kami kasi talagang nagagamit namin si Pons sa galing niya,” said Meneses after surviving the gritty Cignal, 25-19, 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 15-9, on Saturday night at Philsports Arena.
The grand slam coach lauded the growth of Pons under his wing, saying that the former beach volleyball star earned her spot at Creamline from a long hiatus in indoor action.
“Deserve talaga ni Pons yung slot na nasa amin kasi talagang sobrang magaling magpakondisyon ng katawan. Napakaaga namin sa ensayo tsaka yung determination niya sa game laging andiyan,” said Meneses. “Tlagang masaya kami para kay Pons kasi nakabalik siya from beach sa Indoor.”
For her consistent outings that kept the 10-time PVL champions unscathed, Pons was unanimously voted as the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week presented by Pilipinas Live for the period of January 28 to February 1.
