Shootout with legends add thrill to benefit game between La Salle, San Beda
MANILA, Philippines — A side event pitting legends will add excitement to “Champions for A Cause” benefit match between UAAP titlist La Salle and NCAA champion San Beda on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
A three-point shootout challenge with the team of former La Salle point guard JVee Casio, forward Jeron Teng, and assistant coach Allan Caidic taking on the side of former and present San Beda coach Frankie Lim, Boyet Fernandez and Almond Vosotros during halftime.
Each team will be given 25 balls to shoot. For every shot a player makes, Filoil Flying V will donate P5,000 to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda on top of the proceeds from the game.

“We know of the rivalry,” said La Salle head coach Juno Sauler. “We don’t get to play them often. But this is different, it’s not only basketball but to help our countrymen affected by Yolanda.”
“We have to defend our school’s honor,” said San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez, who, like Sauler, won a title in his first year. “So you can say that we will play San Beda basketball.”
