Carlos Yulo failed to collect a gold medal on Wednesday ending his stint in the 30th Southeast Asian Games with two golds and five silver medals.

The world champion gymnast couldn’t quite recapture his winning form in three events of the artistic gymnastics competition at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Yulo finished with a score of 14.700 in vault to settle for his first silver of the day. Indonesia’s Agus Prayoko took the gold after scoring 14.734.

Vietnam’s Thanh Tung Le claimed the bronze with a score of 14.617.

That set the tone for the rest of the day as Yulo was whisked off the venue immediately after he exited his dressing room.

Yulo settled for yet another silver medal in the men’s parallel bars, collecting 14.600 points.

Phuong Thanh Dinh of Vietnam won the gold with 14.800. Vietnam’s Thanh Yung Le won the bronze with a score of 14.233.

Yulo’s last shot at the gold was in the men’s horizontal bar, but he also came up short there, tallying 13.667 for yet another silver. The gold went to Phuong Thanh Dinh of Vietnam, who had 13.767.

It was still an impressive haul for the gymnastics dynamo, who can expect a windfall from the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee for his treasure trove of medals. His two golds alone are worth P1.2 million in incentives.
