MANILA, Philippines—The NBA may be in hiatus due to COVID-19 but that doesn’t mean it won’t stop from holding competitive events.
In partnership with ESPN, the league set up the NBA Horse tournament that will begin on Monday (Manila time) that will be shown on ESPN and the ESPN App.
Oklahoma City’s Chris Paul, Chicago’s Zach LaVine, Atlanta’s Trae Young, and Utah’s Mike Conley are the representatives of the NBA in the competition.
Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings is also in the competition along with Chicago Sky’s Allie Quigley are also in the contest together with NBA alumni Paul Pierce and Chauncey Billups.
The first round matchups are Young vs. Billups, Catchings vs. Conley, LaVine vs. Pierce, Paul vs. Quigley.
All games will be filmed while competing at home locations and the players will compete shot for shot in the traditional playground game.
The more senior player will call heads or tails to see who will go first with each of the competitors describing each shot attempt’s specifications.
Dunking is prohibited and whoever completes the word HORSE after failing to match five shots is eliminated.
