NCAA volleyball: Lady Blazers stretch unbeaten run
Six this season, 35 overall.
That’s the current streak of College of St. Benilde in the NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Lady Blazers kept that run going on Wednesday with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-14 victory over Arellano University at Filoil EcoOil Arena to stay on track for another spotless run to the crown.
St. Benilde has won the last two editions of the tournament via season sweeps.

Article continues after this advertisementBut the Lady Blazers are more focused on what lies ahead than the things they’ve accomplished thus far.
“We try not to mind those (streaks); we don’t even count our wins,” said St. Benilde coach Jerry Yee. “We’re still lacking in execution and there’s a lot we need to fix.”
“Hopefully we get to fix them,” he added.

That may be bad news for other contenders, like Lyceum of the Philippines, which rebounded from an opening set hiccup to thwart Emilio Aguinaldo College, 16-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-12, in the earlier game to remain unscathed in five outings this season.
Johna Dolorito was crucial on both sides of the net, scoring all her 10 points off attacks and leading the Lady Pirates’ floor defense with team-highs of 11 receptions and 10 digs.
