MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines’ PLDT Home TVolution Power Pinoys officially made their entry into the quarterfinals of the 2014 Asian Men’s Volleyball Club Championship following a win by Iraq over Mongolia Saturday.
Iraq represented by a formidable South Gas Club dealt the Power Pinoys a straight-sets loss last Thursday but gave the Filipinos a free ticket to the next round with a 25-12, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15 victory over Mongolia’s Altain Bars at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Iraq locked up the No.1 seed heading into the quarterfinals in Pool A while the Power Pinoys hold the second seed. The quarterfinals start Sunday at 12nn.
The Philippines blanked Mongolia, 25-13, 25-23, 25-16, to open its bid before absorbing a 22-25, 19-25-19, 18-25 to Iraq.
