V-League: FEU clinches 2nd round spot, dumps San Beda
Far Eastern University is on to the second round of the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference, shaking off a poor start and dumping San Beda, 23-25, 25-6, 25-11, 25-14, Wednesday at Philsports Arena.
Criselle Amador gave the match away to the Lady Tamaraws when her service went array.
FEU is now at 2-0, tying University of Santo Tomas and University of the Philippines atop Group B.
San Beda dropped to 0-3 joining NCAA defending champions College of St.Benilde at the cellar of the standings.
Lady Tamaraws head coach Shaq Delos Santos told his players to adjust after their first set loss and prove to the Red Spikers that they can do better.
“Sinabihan ko na di sila pwedeng mag relax, alam naming hindi yun yung nilalaro namin, good thing nakita namin yung pinagbago sa second set, and mas maganda pa dapat yung makita nung third and fourth set,” said Delos Santos.
Toni Rose Basas led FEU with 19 points while Bernadeth Pons and Remy Palma had 14 and 13 points, respectively.
No Lady Red Spiker finished in double-digit scoring with guest player Janine Marciano the closest with eight.
FEU was relentless on attack with 47 scoring spikes and 14 service aces.
San Beda tallied just 22 points off spikes and five aces.
