MANILA, Philippines — The NLEX Road Warriors have taken their preparations for the PBA season into high gear.

NLEX is in the middle of another training camp, which ends on Sunday, at St. Paul American School in Clark, Pampanga. The team is staying at Supia Resort, which is close to its practice facility.

Head coach Yeng Guiao said the Road Warriors are now looking at building their chemistry after getting to work on their conditioning during its three-day closed circuit camp at Alpha Aviation last week.

“Any opportunity you can get at this time will be a big help. We’ve learned our lessons from last year’s bubble tournament where we didn’t have much time to prepare. We don’t want to repeat the same mistakes we made,” said Guiao, who is also NLEX’s general manager, on the team’s website.

The Road Warriors have brought in three players in veteran swingman Don Trollano and draftees Calvin Oftana and David Murrell.

Oftana, taken third in last March’s draft, has so far impressed Guiao, who described the former San Beda star as a “natural scorer” and “very versatile.”

NLEX just missed the Philippine Cup playoffs last year after finishing ninth with a 5-6 record.
