PH grouped with Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei in Asian women’s volleyball tilt
MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines will head into the Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship grouped with two of the best teams in the continent.
Asian no.5 Kazakhstan (world no.22) and no.6 Chinese-Taipei (world no.39) are in Pool A with no.19 Philippines (world no. 117), and no.19 Uzbekistan (world no.117) in the regional tournament that will be played in Clark, Pampanga from August 29 to September 4.
The announcement coincided with the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases’ approval of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation’s request to hold the Asian Championships in the country.

“We would like to thank the IATF and Malacañang for approving our request,” said PNVF President Ramon “Tats” Suzara, also thanking Philippine Sports Commission, Rebisco and the Bases Conversion Development Authority headed by President and CEO Secretary Vince Dizon.
Asian no.3 Korea (world no. 14) and no.4 Thailand (world no.18) are in Pool B along with no.7 Australia (world no. 40) and no.10 Iran (world no.60).
The Asian tournament will also serve as the continent’s qualifier for the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship that the Netherlands and Poland are co-hosting.
