Rockets’ Fil-American guard Jalen Green returns to Manila
MANILA, Philippines — Houston Rockets star Jalen Green arrived in Manila on Wednesday to reconnect with his Filipino roots.
The Filipino-American guard is making his first visit to the country as an NBA player after he was drafted second overall by the Rockets in last year’s rookie draft.
In an Instagram story, Green shared a glimpse of his accommodation while he’s here in Manila.
Adidas Philippines said its 20-year-old global ambassador will get an ultimate Filipino experience through local culture, street lifestyle, and grassroots sports.
This promotional tour will be centered on making Green “experience a different and more authentic side of the Philippines.”
It marks Green’s third visit to the country after playing in the National Basketball Training Center in 2018 and 2019 where he competed against Filipino prodigy Kai Sotto.
Green made an impressive rookie season for Houston, averaging 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 31.9 minutes per game. He played a total of 67 games as a starter in his first year as his rebuilding team finished 15th in the Western Conference with a 20-62 record.
