Arellano repels depleted NU in V-League
NCAA champion Arellano University got back on the winning track with a 25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22 upset over National University in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference Saturday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Menchie Tubiera posted 13 points and guest player Mina Aganon added 11 points for the Lady Chiefs, who bounced back from a four-set loss to the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws last week.

“I’m happy that we won because I think this is the first time that we’re able to beat NU although they don’t have a complete team,” said Arellano head coach Obet Javier in Filipino. “But like I told my team before the game, this is a test for us because we have yet to win against them.”
NU’s Jaja Santiago and Aiko Urdas tried to fill in the absence of Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Myla Pablo with 20 and 14 points, respectively but it wasn’t the loss of its two key players that proved too costly.
